Shelter for Girls

Our Mission

St. Vincent de Paul Shelter for Girls is dedicated to provide a homelife environment to young girls who are 6-12 years old whose families are going through a rough time because of poverty, danger, incapacity, and deficiency. Our mission is to offer safety and hope and to help every neglected girl to enjoy a better quality of care through residential childcare.

Our Vision

To provide Safe, Nurturing, Christ-Centered Family for every Girl who experiences extreme difficult circumstances where her security and well-being is promoted to become happy, self-sustaining and fulfilled young Christians.

Our Story

How We Got Started

The Sister Handmaids of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul (SMdC) have been in the Philippines since 1983 having its first home at Barangay Pansol, Diliman Quezon City.

Situated at the impoverished neighborhood of Pansol, the sisters have been very much acquainted with the quality of life that these people have been caught up with.

Where We Are Now

We are involved in weekly feeding, formations for mothers, scholarship programs, medical assistance and financial support in cases of emergencies for the people living in the following barangays: Pansol, Kaingin I, Kaingin II, Mary Town, and Daan Tubo.

Besides these, there are some unavoidable dramatic situations that demand special intervention, like the sudden death of one of the parents, or imprisonment, grace sickness, etc., which lead to the children being left behind or even in the street asking for help. This put the children in danger, especially the girls being exposed to possible sexual abuse. Thus, the desire to preserve these girls from becoming street girls is born.

We would like to make a work of prevention from traumatic experiences that can bring their life to destruction and give them the tools, through education and Christian formation so that they may have a better future and help their families to uplift their conditions.

Hence, the St. Vincent de Paul Shelter for Girls is conceived.
